Bits, Bikes and Beats

I like Rock. Metal, nü metal, grunge, old school, new school, you name it. You probably have a rather defined musical taste by now if you're 18 years old or older. But why do you like the music that you like? When did it begin? Maybe your dad liked that music, maybe you decided to listen to it because it's the opposite of what they liked, or of what everyone else liked, maybe it was just meant to be. In my case it began with videogames, which began with..well, childhood. When I was around 5 my dad got a PC that ran in DOS. No mouse, no Windows. So the obvious games to play were the original Prince of Persia, Duke Nukem, Mortal Kombat, and stuff like that. But then my cousins got a PC that had Windows. And it a had a mouse. So they started playing Point-and-click adventure games. And so did I when I got a PC that got Windows as well. One of the very first rock songs I ever listenend to was the Full Throttle intro, "Legacy" by The Gone Jackals:

And then my brother came home with a game borrowed from a friend of his, it was the ever-awesome Road Rash. And the background music for the menu was "Rusty Cage" by Soundgarden:

I believe that's one of the main reasons why I relate music to good times and fun moments. Of course there are a lot more bands and artists that ended up defining what I like today, but i think it's worth remembering what made you who you are, where it begins. I know, right? He looks like right out of the comic. Also Rhys Ifans will be The Lizard.
And Campbell Scott and Julianne Nicholson will play Peter Parker's parents, which in my opinion (and i'm not being sarcastic this time) were very accurately casted.

You may not be aware of a very cool RPG Saga called .hack//. It's basicly about an online game in a semi-futuristic world whose code generates two self-conscious A.I.'s that battle between themselves putting the player's lives in danger, generating people to fall into commas and causing massive internet collapses all over the world. There have been 3 sub-sagas: dot hack, dot hack G.U. and dot hack Link. The latter published only in Japan and oh, yeah, that will be the last dot hack game ever. That's right. No ending unless you can understand Japanese. So the guys over at http://linkus.dothackers.net/ started a campaign for Namco Bandai to publish the game in the U.S.A. which would eventually cause a worlwide release.
The saga consists of more than seven games, five mangas, four novels,three animes and five OVAs, which have all been translated into English. If you'd like to know how it all ends, or you just think it's unfair that they don't publish a PSP game that has sold over 100 thousand copies in Japan alone, please do give dothackers.net a hand and follow some of their suggestions on their website.

I'm Back!

Sorry for not posting anything the last couple of weeks, I was busy with exams and stuff. I know there's a lot of videogame trailers that have premiered of the Spoke's VGA Awards and there also Thor's. And Yes, I know by now you've all seem them but i'm posting them for completion's sake. Also, I've noticed that sometimes the blog gets a very decent amount of views per day, yet no one comments. Please do comment or an elephant will rape your pet unicorn. Besides this teasers, they've also revealed that the whole asgardiana spect of the movie will be more sci-fi based than the fantasy style from the current comics. Thor is a friggin' alien (and also everyone in Asgard). Hell yeah!

I didn't like the first Crysis games, not Far Cry. But Crytek totally bought me with the song. It's "Just like you imagined" by Nine Inch Nails (it may sound familiar from the 300 movie trailer). Go get it.

Oh, I hate you Marvel. This is the very definition of a teaser trailer. It teases you. It gives you nothing. Yet it makes you want more. I hate you, Marvel.

Another Eidos game that gets remade by Square-Enix, just like Deus Ex. So we know it'll be awesome.
